The surface of material becomes smooth after protrusions are removed from the surface by EP.

EPprocessed surface can be cleaned more easily than Electro Chemical Buffing surface since the latter has undulations, which are observed by a mictoscope having resolution at 500nm scale and are apt to catch particles.

The material is baked in the oxidizing atmosphere to form two layers, consisting of passivated layers of iron oxide layer on the top and chrome oxide layer under it.

Metal ion does dissolve in alcohol nor in ozone water containing much residual oxygen.
The brand name of this iron oxide layer is GOLDEP.
